Itinerary
Day 1 : Airport – Negambo
Arrive in Sri Lanka. You will be met at the airport and then transferred by air-conditioned vehicle to your Hotel in Negombo. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight in Negombo.
Day 2 : Negombo, Pinnawela - Habarana
After an early breakfast, travel to Sri Lanka’s ‘Cultural Triangle’ via an Elephant Orphanage, an institution that was set up to care for orphaned or injured elephants that would otherwise have died had they been left to their own devices in the wild . If you leave the hotel early, then you should be able to watch the elephants bath in the river after the youngest babies have been milk fed. After lunch, you will leave for the Cultural Triangle and check in at your hotel in Habarana. In the late afternoon, if you wish, we can organize for you a one-hour elephant ride through dry jungle land . Enjoy dinner and have an overnight stay in Habarana.
Day 3 : Polonnaruwa - Minneriya
Today you will explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, once the capital of an advanced and prosperous medieval kingdom. Afterwards return to the hotel for Lunch. After lunch, safari at Minneriya national park, an important wetland park supporting many aquatic birds and about 300 wild elephants. Dinner and overnight stay in Habarana.
Day 4 : Habarana
Today you can enjoy a relaxing morning at the hotel poolside, or explore your surroundings by walking or biking. Dinner and overnight stay in Habarana.
Day 5 : Sigiriya - Kandy
After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and leave to visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, one of Sri Lanka's most fascinating UNESCO World Heritage sites. No matter how often you climb to the summit of this one-time hilltop fortress of the maverick Sinhalese king, Kassapa, the pleasure barely diminishes because of the incredible spectacular views at the summit.
Day 6 : Kandy
This morning, after breakfast, you will tour the city of Kandy, visiting the Temple of the Tooth and enjoying some leisure time for shopping. In the evening, you will be entertained by a spectacular Sri Lankan cultural show. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight in Kandy.
Day 7 : Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast, today we will travel to the tea-growing hill area, and to get there, we will drive through the mountains where you will have the opportunity to gaze at the magnificent vistas. En-route to Nuwara Eliya you will visit a tea factory, processing the very popular and famous Sri Lankan Tea. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 8 : Nuwara Eliya
Today after breakfast you will explore “Little England” a tour with an opportunity to walk around the streets of this interesting and historical town. We will also visit the Hakgala botanical gardens. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
